The Japanese city of Ishinomaki (石巻市) in the Miyagi Prefecture of Tohoku was among the cities hit worst by the Tsunami of April 7th, 2011.
These images taken in April of 2012 show the devastation of the Tsunami and earthquake’s force, even after one year of cleanup. Standing within the rubble and remains felt like visiting the remnants of a war zone.
Against the tremendous destruction and loss of life, the people of Ishinomaki had obviously not lost hope during the effort of rebuilding.
